What goes on here :
Hong lsland stands out as one of the most beautiful island of the Andaman Coast. As you approach from the sea, the towering limestone formations & crystal clear water inspire images of deserted island, dreams of playing on the beach with it's powder white sand & wonderful corals.
Koh Hong's name comes from the Thai word "Hong" which translates as "Room". Flanked by massive, forbidding walls of limestone ...... like entering a sacred room in the middle of the sea. Once inside, it is a round room of surprisingly shallow clear blue water surrounded by a circular karst wall rising from the sea.
The lagoon was rather peaceful considering its stunning beauty.
The peace and tranquillity made Hong Island a favourite destination point for tourists. Koh Hong is a popular haven for local fishermen to tide over tropical storms and the caves have bamboo scaffold type of structures build at the entrance where bird nests are collected.
Abundance of wildlife that inhabits the Island's coastline and mangrove forest. School of colouful tropical fish were visible just beneath the surface. Large patch of mangrove crabs lay among the rocks. The coral reef here are amazing and herons can also be found here.
