What goes on here :
Accessible only from the sea, Railay’s beaches are Tonsai, Railay West, Railay East and Phra Nang. These lovely beaches nestled among towering limestone cliffs which provides the requisite for splendid rock climbing. The turquoise water and long beach are highly popular amongst holiday makers for sunbathing and swimming. What has brought Railay its fame, however, is rock climbing. Back in 1992, a French rock climber explored the cliffs thoroughly and returned home to reveal his discoveries in rock climbing circles. Since then, a great many experienced climbers have followed in his footsteps to enjoy the beauty and mystery of the soaring limestone pinnacles. Geological and climatic factors have combined to produce steep cliff-faces, with much of the climbing beyond the vertical, together with convenient pocket hand and foot holds - All of it in the making for great climbs. Many of the limestone tower rises straight from the beach, providing easy access. Never climbed before ? You find the motion unnerving ? As with any sports, if you are properly trained and equipped, climbing is safe for you to go back home with certificates and T-shirts to show friends. |

Learn Rock Climbing includes top-rope climbing, abseilling/rappelling and some lead climbing. Will climb at more location, usually also at Thaiwan Wall. For beginners wishing to learn more of the skills of climbing. Also for top-rope climbers who wish to learn leading in a safe environment. |
